SGL Leadership Meeting: August 1, 2025

Hello, everyone. SG Live is fast approaching, and the leadership for the event wanted to be forthcoming with news about the event to ensure no information is missed. Expect bi-monthly updates to this new news feature as the team meets and gets everything on track. Additional news posts will be added if something comes up between meetings.

Here are the notes and information from the August 1, 2025 meeting:

SGLive Online Cutoff for Bonuses

• August 31, 11:59 PM EDT. Any money contributed after this date will be added to an associated tournament during the live event. If such a tournament doesn’t exist, that money will either be saved for an online tournament the following year, or can be moved to a different live tournament this year.

SGLive In-Person Cutoff for Bonuses

• October 21, 11:59 PM EDT. Any money contributed after this date will be saved for a similar tournament next year.

Online Tournaments

• Tournament pages for each online event have been populated. Tournament admins that haven't submitted rules and content yet are invited to do so.
• Tournament registration cutoff August 15, 11:59 PM. Unfortunately any tournaments submitted after this date will have to be declined.
• Organizationally we need to keep things moving and we have to have a hard cut-off, otherwise events can potentially drag on.
• Current Online Tournament Standings:
  • Crystalis Randomizer, Final Fantasy Mystic Quest Randomizer, The Legend of Zelda Randomizer current top three
  • Aria of Sorrow Randomizer, Mega Man 4, Mega Man 2 Randomizer current runner-ups
  • Chrono Trigger: Jets of Time Randomizer, Ocarina of Time Randomizer, Super Mario Bros. 3 Randomizer, Super Mario Odyssey Bingo, Super Metroid Randomizer in the hunt
• Of note, Zelda II Randomizer will be joining the online tournaments as well.

In-Person Updates

• Super Metroid any% -- Original tournament organizer had personal matters to attend to and had to bow out. As it’s an Any% tournament, which does not require the creation of a flag set, nor any kind of seed rolling (no randomizer, no problem), SGL leads Clifford and Darkmoon will oversee the event. The tournament will start with Best of 1 Groups into a Single Elim, Best of 3 Bracket.

Volunteer Signups

• We have a new assistant volunteer coordinator, Dani, who will be assisting with SGL organization.
• Unfortunately this has led to a delay in volunteer signups for the live event. The form that was set up before is invalid and had to be set aside.
• Dani has a new form and will work on having it set and posted soon.
• Deadline for volunteer signups will be October 1, 2025

Merch and More

• Merchandise for the event is now available. Hoodies, t-shirts, v-neck shirts, patches, and pins are available.

Gender Stickers for Badges

• Decorative gender stickers will be made in the shape of planets.
• Specific designs are being worked on and will be ready for the live event for use on the badges.
• Special thanks to greenvalkyrie for lending us the printing supplies.

Lanyards

• We are looking into specialty printed lanyards for the badges for the event.
• Badges will be specialized for standard attendees vs VIP members.
• Lanyards will be standard across badges.
